Home is here.
Homecoming & Company is our future. It’s our family. It’s our community. It is all things food. It’s where we go from here. Today it encompasses Homecoming Cafe & Country Store, Homecoming Sideshow Food Truck, Catering, Special Events, and the business brand as a whole. Tomorrow it is the ways we decide to express ourselves through food and through our businesses. To staying true to our mission to create and unite community through food and food ways.
South Sauty Creek has been a part of our family for almost a century. Our grandparents brought our father and uncles to South Sauty from Birmingham almost every weekend as kids to fish and romp around. And when our dad decided it was time to settle down, well there wasn’t much of a choice where he should settle.
Our mom’s family moved to Scottsboro in the late 60s after years of moving around with the NAVY. There they became very involved in the local community. Our parents have lived in South Sauty as a married couple for 50 years this year. This is where our roots are. This is home.
Before it was Homecoming Cafe and Country Store it was South Sauty Creek Cafe, and for about 15 years our parents ran their restaurant in the exact same building. Cafe, bait & tackle, convenient store, gas station, community meeting center, you name it. They shut their doors in 2013.
Jessica and Rishon both spent much of their time as children at the Cafe, playing and getting into mischief, and then as the got older “cut their teeth” in restaurant industry doing everything from waiting tables, washing dishes, cooking, and managing. It’s a family business and that’s the way it worked, and in a way, it still works that way today.
